Angela Jones makes her much anticipated riding debut at Dalby on Saturday, and it looks as if the popular young hoop has an exciting career in front of her. Currently under the expert tutelage of Lindsay Hatch, Jones has a very solid grounding to give her confidence leading into her first official race ride.

“I have been around horses since I was 2 (years of age) on our property and I always had a dream to be a jockey,” Angela said.

“In my last few years of school, there wasn’t anything else I wanted to do, so I made the move to Toowoomba with Lindsay Hatch and here we are today. I have had great people around me. I have been very lucky.”

Angela has a great book to open her career, where she has 4 rides on the 5-race card at Dalby. The debutant Jones opens her account in Race 1 where she partners Miss Charlee Lyn from the Mark Currie stable and looks a great chance in an even maiden event. Jones’ other rides at Dalby are Toecarnargie Man in Race 2 for trainer Ross Coveney, the topweight and leading chance, Jochberg for Donald Baker in Race 4 and in the last race of the day, Angela rides By The Law from the Jim Hanna barn.

Angela rates Jamie Kah as her greatest role model and has the Cox Plate picked out as the race, she would like to win to sit upon the pinnacle of her riding career.

For connections wanting to book Angela Jones for future rides, please contact Tracy Hatch at your earliest convenience, and to watch the full interview with Angela on OTB TV, make sure you tune in to tomorrow nights show. Leading OTBRA tipster, Lee Attard, rates Angela a huge chance for a successful day.

Best of luck to Angela and all connections and we look forward to watching her career unfold with On The Bit Racing Australia and beyond.
